Ronan Writes

Crown of Thorns

in response to "Penitent" by Niccolò Frangipane

written summer 2024

Blood drops, teardrops,
Red-rimmed eyeballs;

Pristine visage
Even as He falls;

Thorny crown
Piercing holy flesh;

Rope around neck
Threatening His breath;

Look at the tragedy on His face!
See their actions; what a disgrace!
Does It Not Make You Want To Kneel And Pray?

Sacred plasmid
Going pallid;

Embodied gloom
In crimson costume;

Focus on nothing,
Not worth remembering

The point of His pilgrimage,
The peace He would bring.

He's the son of our deity, omniscience incarnate!
How could these terrorists fail to admit it!
Can Watching A God Die Cause Them No Dismay?
